Dr. Botha will see the patient for a consultation and clinical examination. X-Rays are essential to complete the evaluation. This should be brought with for the consultation. If X-Rays are not available, it will be requested and can be done at the hospital. The patient and X-Rays will be evaluated to determine whether a hip replacement is indicated.

Further steps to be taken in preparation for the procedure
- Blood analysis (FBC, UKE) + other relevant blood tests
- Urine Culture
- Pre-operative protocol X-Rays for templating (Planning X-Rays to determine prosthesis size) and a Chest X-Ray
- Physician consultation (To confirm general fitness for surgery)
- Authorization for the procedure from the medical aid (The rooms will assist in this
regard)
- Consent for surgery to be signed
