Dr. Botha will see the patient for a consultation and clinical examination. X-Rays are essential to complete the evaluation. This should be brought with for the consultation. If X-Rays are not available, it will be requested and can be done at the hospital. The patient and X-Rays will be evaluated to determine whether a hip replacement is indicated.

 

You will be given the opportunity to ask questions regarding the procedure

Further steps to be taken in preparation for the procedure

  1. Blood analysis (FBC, UKE) + other relevant blood tests
  2. Urine Culture
  3. Pre-operative protocol X-Rays for templating (Planning X-Rays to determine prosthesis size) and a Chest X-Ray
  4. Physician consultation (To confirm general fitness for surgery)
  5. Authorization for the procedure from the medical aid (The rooms will assist in this regard)
  6. Consent for surgery to be signed
